Phuket weather 19-20 and 21 July 2013

Another week end without rain or storms as it was from forecasts, likely, wind is still stronger than usual but not dangerous or too strong.

During Friday and Saturday was sunshine for all day and the wind kept air fresh, so very good condition. As usual a lot of people down the beaches to enjoy the sun and playing with waves.

During change in tide waves are bigger this weekend because of full moon, so be careful and stay in shallow water.

This morning a renewed MV Sai Mai was ready to sail for three days to Phi Phi, however waves offshore can be higher then 1.5 meters so customers decided to get to Racha Yai instead.
Today sky was cover in clouds but it didn't rain.

Phuket weather 17 July 2013

After few days of clouds and rain yesterday today a beautiful surprise...sunshine, the wind picked up a bit but still acceptable. Waves are now higher however going out with diving boats and big boat isn't a problem, would avoid long trip with speed boat.

From Kata hill can see clear sky to the horizon however forecast for tomorrow say more clouds and stronger wind.

For best weather forecast on the web Windguru is top site, here can have an idea about wind and rain fall, don't forget that mother nature still have last word and we only the day after real weather condition.

One more time like to issue the swimmer and surfer warning, always watch red flags, until end of October strong rip currents are dangerous.

Phuket weather 20 June 2013

A real sunny day today nice and warm, only problem is still the strong wind that should go for another two days.

However until wind blows clouds pass quickly over, so as soon wind drops we can expect bit more rain then good weather as usual in July. Don't forget what the red flag means, it is dangerous swim in the sea because of rip currents

Phuket Weather 7 June 2013

Great surprise when I opened the house door today in early morning, a clear blue sky! I love the contrast between the lush green rain forest and the sky. We rarely see a such clean sky even during the dry season.

Later after lunch I went to Karon Beach, in the meanwhile the sky got more covered but still very nice weather, perfect to enjoy the day on the beach or spend the day on a tour. With the winds blowing at altitude it's normal for clouds to come and go.

Swell at Karon Beach
Wind of course brings waves but this doesn't spoil the fun, somebody actually enjoys playing with the swell. There are as well areas that remain well sheltered and have flat waters also during monsoon season, like for example the beautiful Phang Nga Bay.

Red flags are scattered along the beach to warn the swimmers, especially Karon Beach is often affected by strong rip currents that can push you far away from the shore, so must always be very careful and better to stay where the water is still shallow.

Here below a couple links to useful articles explaining what to do if caught by a rip current, and characteristics of coastal currents in Phuket. A correct behaviour in these situations can easily save your life.
